Can you donate musical instruments to a UK charity shop? Yes.

The short answer They say yes Of the 153 UK charities we track, 16 say yes. Condition and shop-level checks may still apply. Evidence last verified

Before donating

Playable instruments are welcomed by many shops and often sell quickly. Pianos and organs are the exception — their size and weight rule them out almost everywhere, so they're listed separately.

Prepare it like this

Clean the instrument, include the case and any accessories, and mention any faults. Schools, community music projects and instrument-amnesty schemes are good alternatives for instruments shops can't take.

Absence from a charity's list doesn't mean they accept it — it just isn't singled out. Ask your local shop.
