Wheelchairs, mobility scooters and mobility aids
Also covers: wheelchair, mobility scooter, zimmer frame, walking frame, bath aid, hospital bed, hoist, commode
Can you donate wheelchairs, mobility scooters and mobility aids to a UK charity shop? It depends.
Why shops may refuse it
Mobility and accessibility equipment needs servicing and safety checks that ordinary charity shops may not provide.
What to do instead
First check that you own it. Return an NHS wheelchair or loaned hospital equipment to the issuing service by default; for privately owned equipment, ask the British Red Cross or a local mobility reuse scheme.
